The world of espionage hasn’t been more revealed than today! Adjaye Associates revealed designs of their new project SKYSCRAPE in New York City. It is an interactive museum that takes you on a journey through the spy world till you reach the up-to-date hacking. The museum displays distinct artifacts and allows the visitor to listen to stories of impeccable individual spy skills.

The museum is located close to Times Square and has an area of 60,000-square-feet. Its design is inspired by the interiors of the most famous intelligence organizations.

The SKYSCRAPE provides the visitor with several vantage points luring them into separate pavilions. This will allow the public to  “explore their own spy skills to see how they can be relevant everyday, and even learn what kind of spy they’d be”.

Various lighting techniques as well as materials of different transparencies were utilized to heighten the experience. Fiber cement, steel, smoked glass, and acoustic systems constitute the primary interior elements.

“It has been exciting to work with a client as truly innovative as SPYSCAPE,” commented the Associate Director for Adjaye Associates, Lucy Tilley. “Thanks to their forward-thinking vision, we have been able to challenge the traditional museum typology with a design that creates a new model of visitor experience which straddles the physical and digital worlds. SPYSCAPE will be an utterly unique cultural destination for New York City.”

The museum includes a bookstore which contains 1,000 antique espionage books in addition to an exhibition hall for temporary use. The venue also comprises a café as well as several reception halls.
David Adjaye worked personally on this project with the team of SKYSCRAPE and also with previous heads of several spy agencies.

Inauguration of the museum is expected by the end of the year.
