Jorge Rodrigues-Gerada is a Spanish artist who skillfully painted the wall of an abandoned building that was long forgotten after the Lebanese bitter civil war in 1975. The wall painting was the result of collaboration between the artist and BAD – Built by Associative Data- at the district of Bachoura, Beirut.
The Beirut Digital District, which is an association tending to develop Bachoura into a business focal point in two years’ time, has asked the artist to help. The painting, which features a boy playing with an Arduino board, highlights the necessity of education and knowledge for the development of Beirut. The building bearing the playful boy has gunshots all over its walls from the days of the war.
Jorge Rodrigues-Gerada is globally celebrated for his large-scale creative art which is inspired by social dilemmas, human rights, and activism. While BAD is a fast-growing design and architecture agency which is involved in providing top-notch digital techniques and art services.
