Designed by Brenac & Gonzalez & Associés, The Archimède project is located in the Bercy neighborhood, a district undergoing a redevelopment that runs along railways leading to the Gare de Lyon.

The strategy conceived for the project envisaged greater density along the railway that required only a section of the lot made available. The choice of a compact volume liberates the ground level and provides the neighboring school and surrounding area with an unexpected green space, proof that density is not the enemy of open space.

The volumes were developed through a process of adjustment to the urbancontext rather than a formalist or aesthetic approach, and the treatment of each façade derives directly from its orientation. Those most exposed to sunlight benefit from a crystalline double skin of vertically pleated printed glass slats which protect the bay windows. To the north, faceted metallic cladding reproduces the radiance and reflections of the glass and wraps the character of changeability and immateriality around the building.

House N designed by Cheng Franco Arquitectos, The project is a 972m2 house, located within a private 24 acres site, outside the city, in the coastal region of Piura, north of Peru. It is surrounded by non-occupied sites and it is approximately 6km off the main road. The site is currently used as a hatchery for horses, the Peruvian Horse, a breed of light pleasure saddle horse known for its smooth ride. There are approximately 50 horses on Site. The brief asked for a holiday type house with minimum 4 bedrooms, large social areas, a wine cellar and a room to hold horse competitions trophies.

The project sits on the highest part of the site, between the horses’ stables and the training and exhibition field. It has two floors and a basement. The proposal consists of three elevated, cantilevered, clearly defined volumes, overlooking at the landscape of open fields and desert areas, seating on top of the social and service accommodation, all articulated by a triple story height void which holds all the trophies and the wine cellar. The main stair, a circularly shaped steelstaircase, is located within this vertical void and it is connected to the different levels by small bridges. The idea was to use the stair as a platform from where the user can contemplate all the various trophies.

Each volume has a different function and orientation, the first one, which is the closest to the horses’ training and exhibition field, is the roof canopy for the main terrace; the second one, which is the tallest volume, contains the main bedroom; and the last one contains the 3 guests’ rooms. The three volumes cantilever over a grass road that can be used by the horses to go from their stables to the training and exhibition field.
The proposed material and finish for the social volume at ground level is mainly on exposed concrete. The volumes above are all covered in Corten steel panels with different size perforations. The size and amount of the perforations respond to the privacy levels and type of ambient behind the panels. The proposed palette of materials looks at a minimal and uniform look, which despite its simplicity generates constant changing lighting effect.
First Floor Plan
Internally, the exposed concrete finish continues at ground level and on the double height areas. The dormitories are all painted white but contain large portions of glass which allows no only the views to the outside but also the exposure of the steel structure that support the cantilevering volumes. The trophies area is all covered in extruded rectangular MDF boxes which not only hold the different trophies and wines but also function as lighting features.
Piura, due to its geographical location, is both tropical and arid at the same time. The weather, rainy sometimes, is mostly stable and have pleasant summer temperatures in the lows 30s and mid-20s °C. The area where the site sits, even the site itself, was mostly desert; the land was then worked to allow for adequate conditions for a hatchery of horses. The house can be described as a country house, but it is fact a house in the middle of the desert.

Designed by Mccullough Mulvin Architects, The new Waterford Fire Station will become the regional center for firefighting, river rescue, public consultation and training for the whole of the south-east of Ireland; it provides a 24-hour response unit for the region.Located close to a ring road, the building is shaped around the active service it delivers, being derived from the tracking movements of the appliances. Training includes cutting up vehicles, underground and confined spaces training, breathing apparatus training and desk study training.

The building encloses space and makes an artificial landscape; function is paramount. Office and ancillary functions are housed in a simple zinc volume, folded around like a piece of origami to enclose a large the drill yard; the roof is extended and angled to suit operational dimensions. Zinc is cut away at ground level to give views of the appliances behind their glazed bay doors, addressing the ring road and giving definition to an essential piece of public infrastructure.

Designed by Setter Architects, Fiverr ’s new offices are located in Tel Aviv’s Beit Ha’ikarim – a historic, 4-story building listed for conservation to which three new floors have been added.
An inspiration for the design drew on the cultural-geographic context of the project’s location and the company’s cosmopolitan activity that brings together ‘sellers’ – artists and freelancers – with ‘buyers’ – entrepreneurs and small businesses worldwide.

Since the offices are located in a building listed for conservation, whose renovation included the addition of new floors, it allows a natural and authentic dialogue between old and new that are reflected in the interior design. The design produced representations of the dynamic and cosmopolitan city throughout its history, by relating to textures we found in historical strata of construction in Tel Aviv. For example, exposed old wall constructed from silicate blocks, alongside contemporary, unprocessed construction materials like exposed concrete blocks.
Like the company, which has a global virtual presence, Setter Architects’ design took inspiration from patterns used worldwide, applying them in light-fixtures and woodwork, as well as in ceiling and flooring materials.

The aim was to use design to create complex work environments applying global-local ideas. In the process, Setter created a fresh and distinctive language that generates a sense of a warm, human sense of space that’s familiar to everyone – workers and guests, locals and international visitors. In the office spaces, we used recycled wooden window-frames from Tel Aviv’s buildings dating back to the Beit Ha’ikarim period. After modified their original purpose, they became inner partitions between the cozy interesting booths and conference rooms. Regular building-blocks are used in their natural form, creating walls with a three-dimensional, colorful texture, which introduces moss-green tones into brand-new spaces. Similarly, flea-market furniture is mixed with contemporary furniture.

Fiverr wanted to connect the design of its offices to its international community of artists and creative people. And so the design integrates artworks produced by artists from the Fiverr community especially for the project. They are incorporated into the furniture, graphic elements, and the art displayed on the building’s concrete walls.
Floors 1-6 are office floors. People work in open space, in which different kinds of conference rooms are embedded, like ‘phone booths’. The top floor, with an outdoor terrace, is the ‘public’ area, with meeting rooms, a cafeteria, and a gym for workers’ wellbeing.
