Now You Can Make Beautiful Sketches From Your 3D Models!

Apple’s recent release of its mobile operating system, iOS 12, has created a lot of buzzes worldwide. However, the architectural society is rather excited about the new feature released by Morpholio Trace and Shapr3D. The two players in the architectural software world have collaborated to create “Drag ‘n’ Fly”—a new workflow for iOS 12. The new feature will allow users to integrate a live 3D models in their Trace sketches and to create infinite views. It automatically generates perspective grids for the users to draw over.

Using the new universal 3D file type USDZ and Apple’s Drag and Drop, the new feature promises to bridge the gap between sketching and 3D modeling on the iPad Pro. Sharpr3D models can be exported to Trace via the OBJ export, making the transition even smoother.
Drag’n’Fly is designed to make the existing process of exporting one view of a 3D models after another to sketch over much easier. It is intended to offer architects the possibility to navigate around 3D models, create infinite views, and draw over them. It also allows designers to zoom in on certain details or to create a narrative.

“The iPad Pro has now become as powerful as our computers and has made it effortless to work between apps. This opened up the gateway for Shapr3D and Morpholio Trace to rethink the design workflow, finally fusing together sketching and 3D modeling,” says Morpholio Co-Founder, Anna Kenoff.
Designers can use the new feature to build a 3D models—simple or elaborate—on Sharpr3D and then export it into Morpholio Trace. When the model is imported, vanishing points are automatically created by Trace, and perspective guides are drawn for each view. Designers can use brushes, colors and other features to turn the sketch into an elaborate drawing. Moreover, they can create an animated storyline for their model by tapping between views, as they progress through the scheme.
