In 2014, after relaunching Fisker Inc., the pioneering company in the production of electric vehicles, it was declared that the company’s first car would be fueled utilizing a new technology. The new technique, which depended on a graphene supercapacitor, was put on the back burner and the custom Lithium batteries were used instead. Recently, the company announced that it had great success with solid-state batteries which would fuel its electric vehicles.
Fisker Inc. is now seeking to acquire patents of the novel solid electrode structure that would allow the battery to have incredible prospects. The company claims that the new batteries will be composed of 3D electrodes, promising 2.5 times the specific energy the Lithium batteries have. This will enable the car to acquire a speed of 805 km (500 miles) just on one charge – the time of a single charge takes less than a minute.
With technology fans and observers awaiting the manufacturing of such batteries, the production is expected to launch in 2023. Fisker will be also introducing a new electric car, called ’Emotion’ at the CES 2018 event in January 2018.
