After the completion of Chicago Riverwalk a year ago, architects at Sasaki Associates have recently filmed an incredible video of the project via a drone. The short clip features the incorporation of the landscape with the Riverwalk and providing the public with serene spaces by the river.

The last stretch of the Chicago Riverwalk marks a significant step forward in achieving the ideal of transforming the once-neglected downtown riverfront into a showcase public space that creates the equivalent of a second lakefront.
Here, in bold strokes worthy of Daniel Burnham, Chicago is confirming and renewing its identity as a civilized metropolis.” Commented architecture observer and critic at the Chicago Tribune, Blair Kamin.

The engineering of the river started at the beginning of the 20th century to convert its direction and enhance the water flow for industrial purposes. Since then, it has been polluted but yet neglected.

Now, as shown in the video, Riverwalk plays an important role in the development of the area as it links the river to the city. The clip shows the calmness of the area surrounding the river as opposed to the busy city of Chicago. This was done by extending the pathways to the river and designing areas for the public to have a remarkable experience away from the buzz of the city.
