The construction of the tallest residential tower in Mexico City has just started and it is designed by Zaha Hadid Architects.
Dubbed the ’Bora Residential Tower’, the project is located in Santa Fe which is a key corporate district west of the Mexican capital. The district comprises headquarters for giant names like Amazon, Sony, Apple, Roche, in addition to three educational facilities.
The project resides next to the Mexicana Park and it is just a stone’s throw away from restaurants, cafes, theaters, and schools. Moreover, it will be close to the Santa Fe Transit Hub which connects the metro grid of the Mexican city.
The tower’s design, which includes features that would interest potential occupants, comprises 6 layouts which lie separately surrounding the main circulation. The tallest of the 6 buildings is composed of 50 floors-which is considered to be the highest building in Mexico City. The project will encompass 200 flats with bedrooms varying in number from 1-3.
The bedrooms will have glass sides to let in daylight and provide great views of the neighborhood. The bedrooms will also have private balconies so that the occupants can enjoy the nice weather.
Recent renderings have been revealed of the project showing the triangular terraces which are adequately separated so as not to keep the light from reaching the lower floors.
The six structures curve at the lower floors to form eaves for the commercial spaces beneath which will host shops and restaurants. The drawings released by ZHA also reveal the glazed doorway which leads to an atrium with a marble-resembling interior.
Mexico City, which was hit several months ago by a devastating earthquake, is known to be sitting on an earthquake-active area. The tower was designed to tolerate seismic activities thanks to utilizing suitable construction materials.
This tower was one of the several projects Zaha Hadid has been working on before she passed away in March 2016. Hadid designed the project along with her partner Patrik Schumacher, who is currently in charge of the British-based practice.
ZHA has several other projects in Mexico like a residential complex located in Monterrey in addition to a housing project close to Cancún.
